Normally we hear of ‘dumbing down’ as a means of connecting with those whose education leaves something to desired but not in this case. In this case it’s the BBC themselves who appear to have a less than acceptable command of English.
I’ve heard numerous reports of the Police being ‘systematically racist’. Now that could be very alarming, or it could be very encouraging. We should be told!
Systematically is used where there is some kind of procedure i.e. ‘The Police are becoming systematically more/less racist’. One good, the other bad.
I think the reporter really meant ‘systemically’, as in the Police, as an organisation, are inherently racist.
There’s no point in listening to a news report if it doesn’t actually say anything and confusing ‘systemic’ and ‘systematically’ leaves us all confused about what is, or is not, the case.
Except, of course, for those who are confused about the difference anyway!

It looks like a great opportunity so go on, have a go

My name is Joe Newell and I am an assistant producer working for Maverick Television. I am currently working on the long-running Channel 4 programme 10 Years Younger and we are now looking for participants to take part in the latest series. I stumbled across your website and thought I would get in touch to see if there might be any way I could possibly pass on the following message to anyone who uses your website regularly?

Channel 4 and Maverick Television are looking for lively new applicants who are over the age of 60 to take part in the new series of ‘10 Years Younger’.

We’re hoping to find people who do not want to give in to their pensioner years and are keen for the 10YY team to help them roll back the years!

By updating wardrobes, hair styles and armed with the most modern surgical and non surgical age-defying techniques, the 10 Years Younger expert team lead by presenter Myleene Klass are the team to fight the signs of ageing!

If you’d like to be considered to take part please email: 10YearsYounger@MaverickTV.co.uk or call 0121 224 8381 for more details.

If you have any questions please feel free to call me on 0121 2248349

Kind Regards

Joe Newell

Curiously, you can now attend classes in Reality TV – how to gain an edge over your opponents reports Heather Alexander on BBC News! To get your 15 minutes of fame nowadays you need to be just a bit better prepared than the average stupid applicant.

In case you hadn’t noticed, political correctness is frowned on here so go here for translations if you are a sensitive soul.

Reality TV shows have few redeeming features but those that do spring to mind include keeping moronic viewers off the streets for while.

The only Reality I can see is that contestants are universally stupid; production crews are universally patronising while viewers are manipulated as usual. Still, it’s an effective way of keeping millions quiet when the required medical treatment would be too expensive to be made available by NICE.

Do they think we will listen to their puerile broadcasts just because it gets louder? It’s like speaking louder to a foreigner who doesn’t understand you.

Get the message – we are not listening.

It’s an insult to have marketing dip-shits trying to ram messages down our throats in such an offensive manner.

Making it louder doesn’t make a shite product any more interesting. I suggest they try recruiting someone with an IQ higher than an amoeba

’100 Most annoying people of 2007′ should need no introduction! A critique about 100 singularly uninteresting people by other people who would like to be much more well-known than they are.
