Empuries is worth a visit unless you think of ancient sites as being just a pile of old rocks! There’s ancient Greek and Roman cities on the same site. The museum is worth a look – it’s free! Also, the old town is nearby where good restaurants can be found.
There’s a long distance path along the coast which is easy going for even the least fit! In many areas there is a regular bus if you walk a little too far.
On this section, between Platja d’Aro and San Feliou de Guixols, the path is clearly defined and often paved.
We arrived here, a few miles north of Cala Bona in Majorca mid-afternoon in late September. Still warm and sunny!
Although the same afternoon we did have some cloudy spells.

We were well situated to take advantage of the sun throughout the day in this apartment which was sunny from around 9am right through until sunset. In the background you can see the reception and restaurant area which has indoor and outdoor pools, a small, well-stocked shop and free wireless Internet access.
Here’s a view into the living area with two comfortable sofas that turn into beds and freeview TV at no extra cost – mostly in German though!
In the volcanic region, near Olot, there are some excellent walks with spectacular views.
Allow plenty of time as they may appear easier on the map than they actually are!
